MP Derek Wyatt has agreed to hold a conference for local charities to see if he can help them with their web presence.

The following letter has gone to about 200 local charities by email and mail today. Already over 12 people have booked places!

WH
AT IS YOUR ORGANISATION’S PRESENCE ON THE INTERNET?

A BEST PRACTICE CONFERENCE

FRIDAY MAY 1ST, 9.00 TO 13.00

VENUE TBC

I am writing to invite you or a colleague to attend a conference entitled “What is your organisation’s presence on the Internet?”

The conference will focus on how charities, voluntary and community groups can use the internet to organise, recruit and publicise their activities. I am currently in talks with leading technology and internet companies including Blackberry and AbilityNet, to provide advice on how to get the best out of the internet for your particular cause. My own website, derekwyatt.co.uk, has won a handful of awards for design and engagement, so I might be able to pass on a few tips too!

The conference will also be a great opportunity for all of us to share best practices.

The venue will be confirmed nearer to the date, as I need a better idea of the level of interest. I would be grateful if you could let Kelly Williams in my Sittingbourne office know if your organisation would like to be present as soon as possible. You can reach Kelly at Williamskj@parliament.uk or by calling 01795 477277.

If you are unable to attend the conference or send a delegate, but would like to meet me to discuss your organisation’s web presence I would be happy to fix a one to one meeting. As always, if you have any other issues or campaigns you wish to bring to my attention, please get in touch.

Best wishes

Derek Wyatt MP
